Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators is a membership non-government organisation which was established in January 2000 as an institution to represent and protect the collective interests of the tourism industry in general, and to advance the cause of tour operators in particular. It is the collective and official voice of all Bhutanese tour operators who constitute its primary membership. Although a young organization, ABTO has over the past few years, consistently played an important role in the tourism industry since its inception. Within the few years of its creation, ABTO has been both responsive and effective in representing shared concerns as well as in promoting interests of all tour operators. Along with the support of DOT and its members, ABTO has been able to effect several changes for the overall interest of the tourism industry as well as for tour operators. It has particularly been able to ensure increased administrative and operational convenience and faster processing of required formalities. There are 238 registered members. |
